Tea Set

2015

The form of this tea set is inspired by a bowl or goblet, balanced with intelligent proportions between positive and negative space. The teapot lid, symbolizing transformation, is designed to create natural, continuous changes in its form through the emotional grip of the fingers. When you feel this grip, the changes in the lid unfold as your fingers apply pressure, as if the lid slowly frees itself from constraints and moves into an open space. This transformation in form conveys a sense of freedom and release to the viewer. The saucer, designed similarly to a stone thrown into a pond, creates waves that gently connect the viewer’s mind to both past and future. This tea set is not just an aesthetic experience but also a symbol of companionship and trust between users, a peaceful dialogue between shapes and spaces. This design was created and produced by commission for a company in 2015.
